Hidden gem serving modern takes on Swedish home cooking 

With lively Vasagatan a stone's throw away and bustling Kungsgatan around the corner, Bistro Bestick focuses on family atmosphere and unpretentious surroundings. The menu is characterised by Swedish classics such as hand-rolled meatballs, along with French and international elements. 

Bistro Bestick is run by Stadhuskällaren's former head chef, Björn Fischer. Swedish home cooking with a modern twist is the order of the day here, and the ambition level is high. The restaurant is on Bryggargatan, a slightly tucked away street in the heart of the city, behind Åhléns department store, and focuses on an easygoing atmosphere and personal service. The locale has homely Scandinavian interiors with cosy wooden furniture, marble tables, modern glass lamps and floral wallpaper. Families, friends and acquaintances are all welcome for lunch or dinner, or to have a drink at the bar.

The menu is full of Swedish family classics such as hand-rolled meatballs with traditional accompaniments, but also slightly more continental dishes. If you find it difficult to decide you can order the kitchen's three-course menu or five-course menu with starter, main course and dessert. The bistro serves wines from several continents, both by the glass and the bottle, as well as craft beer, cider and other drinks. The kitchen is open all day, from morning to evening.
