Some are served "a la main" - e.g. white sturgeon caviar on your hand, to be licked, chewed and chased with vodka. Most, if not all, dishes are expertly paired with spirits, beer, wine (Mosel, Chablis and rose - didn't catch the grape) and in the case of dessert - sweet dessert wine and Arrak Punch (non-alcoholic pairings are available).
In all, a wonderful and memorable experience of the palate!
As the name might suggest, Punk Royal is not for the fool hearty diner.
Anyone beyond thirty-something might find the dining experience somewhat marred by the disco-like ambiance. I personally dont't think of this as offensive. As a prior rock drummer, I think I can handle a lot of rhythmic noise, but the small venue (some eight-to-ten tables), with many happy diners loudly singing along with the piped-in music, leaves little air space for a hearing impaired "old fart" (70-something) to hear the waiters' detailed description of the servings, not to mention the dining companions' conversation.
The smoke-filled (not tobacco, mind you) restaurant with lasers and black light decor, visually insulated us from the loudly singing guests (so we couldn't reproach them once out on the street - a good thing!).
All in all, Punk Royale was a memorable culinary experience, and with some reach, an interesting dining experience, including a minimum of voice communication within our party - so, we compared notes and impressions on the way to tunnelbanan.
Two out of four-to-six servers recognized our acoustic challenge, and sat down at our table or spoke loudly to overcome the din. Not bad - 39% of staff attention! Cudos to those who did!! The others probably got good tips from the loud crowd.
Will we come back? Possibly... after carefully screening our friends and guests for their noise tolerance, and after observing the new, "hot" dining experiences and trends in Stockholm when we come back from the US next. After all - some of our prior "favorites" are noe gone...
