Restaurang Prinsens kök
Classic gem on Djurgården
Prinsens kök is the restaurant at Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde art museum, beautifully located in the main building on Djurgården. Come here to have lunch or coffee in delightful surroundings with a view of the gorgeous gardens and the Stockholm inlet.
Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde, one of Sweden's most visited art museums, was originally the home of artist Prince Eugen. In the main building, which is sometimes called the Palace, is the restaurant, aptly named the Prince's Kitchen. It opened in 1972, when the palace's former kitchen area was converted into a serving area.
The restaurant preserves the history and tradition of the house, with tiled walls, wooden cabinets, iron and marble shelves, an old iron stove and a sink with marble and copper details. Enjoy coffee and lunch in pleasant, historical surroundings in the bright dining room. Modern elements co-exist with the traditional and the chefs are happy to experiment with menus, dishes and ingredients that reflect our time and current food trends. The menu mainly includes flavours from Europe, but influences from other parts of the world also find their way in.
Everyone is welcome to eat or have a coffee at the restaurant, but since it's located inside the museum, an entrance ticket is required to visit – an excellent opportunity to also take a tour of the exhibitions. The restaurant doesn't accept table reservations; drop-in is the order of the day.
