Volta started out as a private members' club but has been open to everyone since August 2025. Behind the anonymous entrance on Brännkyrkagatan, they've created an exciting hangout that's as much a bar as a nightclub, cultural scene and living room.
Volta's name is slang for prison and alludes to its nearby sister restaurant Häktet. Volta has a more intimate setting and a greater focus on drinks. The venue is reminiscent of a rustic living room and the atmosphere is ideal for an exciting first date, but also for everyday hanging out and nights out with friends. Even though the club is now open to the public, the slightly secretive feeling remains.
Evenings often start at a slightly slower pace, when you can come here to have a drink, socialise and maybe play cards or backgammon. As well as cocktails and a wide range of natural wines, you'll find cheese, charcuterie and other snacks on the menu. Depending on how the evening progresses, the pulse increases and Volta takes the form of a nightclub with guest DJs who control the music. More often than not, other fun events are organised, such as quizzes, theme nights, live jazz and art openings.
