Where to find bars in Stockholm that are open late

Tjoget has been named one of the best bars in the world several times, and you can hang out at the bar until 3am at weekends and 1am on weekdays. Innovative, perfectly balanced cocktails are the name of the game, but there's also a winebar and beer hall under the same roof.

Häktet bar and restaurant is on Hornsgatan in Södermalm. The locale has lots of spaces and hidden areas where you can hang out, as well as a wonderful inner courtyard during the summer months. Häktet is a popular watering hole which draws in a mixed, in-the-know crowd.

Baras Imperium, which is part of the Baras group of bars and restaurants, is open until 3am all week. Drop by for a friendly bar scene, with good-value food annd drink. A sociable meeting place in the heart of Södermalm which draws in a mixed crowd.

Hang out at The Soap Bar, just a stone's throw from Stureplan, any night of the week. They serve a reasonably-priced drinks menu with a choice of beers, wines and cocktails. They also serve hot meals such as hamburgers, sandwiches and meatballs. The bar becomes a nightclub in the small hours, with DJs and a dancefloor.

On lively Folkungagatan near Medborgarplatsen, Kelly's serves up an unpretentious bar scene until 3am - every day. A mixed crowd gathers here for a fun evening, whether you're dropping by for a quick beer or staying all night.

As well as eating food from all over Asia at beautiful Berns Asiatiska you can also hang out in the bar and sip cocktails and wine until late. Luxurious nighttime hangout under the chandeliers.

This Chinese restaurant in Nosh & Chow's beautiful premises on Norrlandsgatan serves fabulous cocktails and Sichuan flavours. It gets pretty crowded as the evening progresses. A popular spot in the heart of Stockholm's nightlife.

Brasserie Riche is a long-established restaurant that's open from breakfast until last orders every day of the week. Come by early in the morning, for lunch, in the middle of the day, for dinner or a post-work drink and stay until late. Both Riche and Lilla Baren next door are open until 2am and their sister restaurant Riche Fenix in Södermalm is open almost as late.

At Riggan, the party doesn't just go on until late, the atmosphere also gets better and better as the wee hours approach. Large groups of sofas and the relaxed atmosphere ooze home-party vibes. Sip on cocktails, order some late-night snacks and enjoy a night that never seems to end.

This Art Deco-inspired cocktail bar with original Thirties details serves up DJs and a late-night bar scene. Count on a slightly more "mature" bar scene with a minimum age of 23 and a prime location on Mariatorget.

Round off the day at this elegant townhouse on Norrlandsgatan in the heart of the city. Nosh and Chow is made for late nights with its cosy yet glamorous lounge style. There are several bars where you can drink cocktails and listen to music late into the night. 

This bar, in premises that used to house Spitting Bulldog, is run by two guys from Corner Club. Their aim is to create an exclusive but relaxed watering hole that fills the gap between bar and nightclub. It's sophisticated yet edgy and the emphasis is on fabulous cocktails.

At Lokal Izakaya, which is as much restaurant as bar, the party goes on well into the evenings. In sophisticated surroundings on Scheelegatan, you can start the evening with Asian sharing plates and cocktails before dancing the night away when the restaurant and the adjoining Lemon Bar turn into a pulsating nightclub with singalong-friendly pop hits and DJs.

This modern gastropub is open until 3am every day. If you drop by for a quick beer after work there's a strong chance you'll end up staying for dinner, a few cocktails and a singalong, before heading upstairs to the dance floor to shake your funky stuff. 

At Hard Rock Cafe its all about rock 'n' roll, so it's not surprising they're open all week. At weekends they're open well past midnight with live performances, a good atmosphere and nostalgic Eighties vibes, but on weekdays you can also stay until the clock strikes midnight. 

This classic Södermalm haunt, which opened in 1908, consists of a restaurant, beer hall and club where you can hang out until long into the small hours. The beer hall serves a wide range of beers on tap, served in historic surroundings with an impressively high ceiling.

Sip cocktails and listen to DJs into the small hours in a former suite of the Scandic Anglais hotel, accompanied by views over Humlegården and Sturegatan by night. The bar is closed during the summer months, from June.

Coquetel Social serves elegant cocktails and tasty small plates in Cuban surroundings on Birger Jarlsgatan. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed and welcomes guests who drop by for a cocktail or stay all night. Coquetel is part of the Stureplansgruppen restaurant group and is run by the team behind Calle P, which is also open until late.

At Kungsbiljarden you can drink beer and enjoy activities all evening. There's a bar, restaurant and billiards hall spread out over 1200 square metres. Enjoy a beer while you play, or round off your game with a drink at the bar. 

A classic Södermalm pub and meeting place for all ages, which is open extra late on Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week you'll have to call it a night at 1am.
