The former waterworks next to Lake Kottla (Kottlasjön) in Lidingö now houses a stone-oven bakery and café. Vattenverket (which means “the waterworks”) serves both coffee and cakes and lunch - from freshly-baked buns to salads and smoothies - in beautiful natural surroundings.
The owners of Vattenverket have created an oasis in a former waterworks next to Lake Kottla in Lidingö where the stone oven in the cellar is always hot. Everyone is welcome here to relax for a while, surrounded by trees and the peaceful lake. Perhaps as a stop-off along a long walk, an outing or just a trip to buy freshly-baked bread for breakfast.
Vattenverket's popular buns and breads are created with skilled craftsmanship, top quality ingredients and lots of love. Everything they make is baked from scratch throughout the day, so the bakery can always boast freshly baked goods with the unique character that comes from baking sourdough loaves in the same oven as cinnamon and cardamom buns.
Unsurprisingly, the café menu is based around freshly-baked goods, such as substantial sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, buns and croissants, but also colourful salads and American pancakes. And, of course, the icing on the cake - coffee from Lidingö roastery, or why not a glass of wine? Vattenverket aims to be a place you long to return to, whether it's for a stop-off on a walk around the lake, a delicious lunch or an alfresco glass of wine.
