Ice cream parlours in Stockholm

This popular ice cream and coffeebar by Vasapark makes Italian ice cream with top quality ingredients and creative flavour combinations. How about a burnt butter, toffee and rosemary ice cream, for example? They also run courses if you want to learn to make your own gelato.

Aryam is run by Hosanna Amanuel, an internationally celebrated pastry chef who specialises in both ice cream and chocolate. Cool off with gelato and sorbet in tempting, regularly-changing flavours. The ice-cream bar is on Sankt Paulsgatan, a few steps from Götgatsbacken.

This little gelateria on Götgatan 90 opened in summer 2020 with its own unique concept. They make artisanal Italian gelato from simple, pure ingredients. The ice cream is produced and sold in the store.

Stockholm's largest organic ice cream parlour can be found on Skeppsbron, with masses of varieties to choose from. There are all the traditional flavours like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate, as well as more unexpected combinations, soft-serve ice cream, and refreshing sorbets. There are a few indoor seating spots, but if the weather permits, the sunny outdoor terrace on the quayside, with a view towards Södermalm, is the place to be.

The team behind Svedjan opened this small ice cream parlour in spring 2024, where they serve soft ice cream made from scratch with milk from Svedjan Ost, an award-winning dairy farm in Västerbotten. This is topped with sauces, nuts, berries, and other delicious toppings, and they also experiment with ice cream sandwiches and other desserts with ice cream.

Take a trip out to Bromma and test the gourmet ice cream at this celebrated gelateria. They make exclusive Italian gelato daily using only selected ingredients, so you can forget any weird additives and colourings. Exciting flavours in your cone can also be combined with hot chocolate from a chocolate fountain and espresso from Calabria.

He's been passionate about ice cream since childhood - and now he's opened not just one, but several, ice cream bars. Ice cream master Kenny Matsson has won several awards for his gelato, including ice cream, maker of the year at the Swedish ice cream championships 2022. Every morning they make twelve varieties, both sorbet and gelato, with pistachio and salt caramel two popular favourites. 

Stockholms Glasshus has been around since the 1980s and they serve some 50 varieties of homemade top quality ice cream. A real Vasastan veteran. 

Le Pop has embraced the “paletas” concept, where you can design your own ice cream lolly, to be dipped in chocolate and pimped with all kinds of toppings such as crushed nuts, sprinkles and cake crumbs. Visit them at their pop-up-café on Götgatan, or keep an eye out for their portable ice-cream cart that moves around Stockholm. 

Pärlans Konfektyr doesn't just sell luxurious cream toffees, they also serve their own soft-serve ice cream made only with pure ingredients during the warmer months of the year. As the crowning glory, the ice cream is topped with Pärlans homemade caramel sauce, which you can also buy to take home.

Gelato Crema occupies prime position on the summer pedestrian street in Hornsbergs strand. The team here, who also run Abrahamsbergs Café, make authentic artisanal Italian gelato here, made from scratch from pure, natural fruit and other ingredients. The ice cream counter always stocks a selection of twelve different fresh flavours of gelato, and there are always a few sorbets, perfect for vegans and gluten- and lactose-intolerant ice cream fans. 

You can usually buy NiceEis ice cream from an ice cream van that drives around in Rönninge, but in the summer of 2024, you'll also find their temporary pop-up on Kungsholms strand. Ice cream maker Tobias makes ice cream from scratch using top quality ingredients, such as milk from Ösvreta farm in Sörmland, Swedish strawberries, and vanilla pods.

The family that runs Gräddnos has roots in Sicily and wants to showcase real Italian ice cream craftsmanship with their ice cream bar. Swedish and Italian ingredients combine to bring out the very best flavours in their gelato.

Glassverkstan's gelato is made by hand in accordance with Italian tradition and is made from ingredients like fresh raspberries, pistachio nuts and real lemon juice. The flavours vary constantly, depending on the season, ingredient availability, special occasions, and the mood of the gelato masters.

Probably Stockholm's widest selection of ice cream and sorbet. They sell their wares in both the factory and in another ice cream parlour on Bondegatan (in spring and summer). The factory delivers orders to both restaurants and private customers.

StikkiNikki Gelato has several branches around the city. The ice cream is absolutely world class, made exclusively from natural and often organic ingredients. 

The owners of Bullandö Glassfabrik in Värmdö are passionate about Italian gelato, especially of the kind found in Stintino, Sardinia. At Bullandö Marina, you can taste their own freshly made gelato in a variety of flavours, as well as vegan and lactose-free sorbet. Get here by boat, car or bus.

Omnipollo is best known for their microbrewed beer and hip pizzas, but since 2019 they've also run a beer garden and ice cream bar in Humlegården. The soft serve ice cream - served in an impressively tall twirl - is extremely imaginative in terms of both appearance and taste. Naturally, beer is one of their flavours.

This popular konditori has expanded their business in Hammarby sjöstad and in spring 2021 they opened Magnus Johansson Glass & Konfektyr. Enjoy soft ice cream and ordinary ice cream all year round in home-baked waffle cones. Their ice cream flavours vary according to the season and ingredients are always carefully selected.

Trattoria Gradi in Sjöstan puts its heart and soul into Italian food culture, not least when it comes to making their own gelato. Gelato master Silvia has won several awards for her ice cream and pure, simple flavours take centre stage in true Italian style. You can enjoy delicious ice cream with views over the glittering water on their large outdoor dining area on the waterfront. 

All the ice cream at GelatoNova's outlets is made on site to traditional Italian recipes and their gelato is made from fresh ingredients, local dairy products and flavour-packed fruits. The flavours on sale behind the counter are also constantly changing, so you could visit every day and try a different kind.

If you're a fan of gelato this spot is well worth a detour. Italian ice cream is made on site at Edsviken Piazza & Gelateria: a trained gelato master runs the show and they're as passionate here about good food, people and service as they are about the chilly delicacy.

Sundbyberg is just a few underground stations away from Stockholm City, and it's well worth the journey when you're craving something cold and creamy. That's where you'll find Skog ice cream bar, where they make various creative ice cream flavours every day from scratch. 

This little bakery in Gärdet won the Swedish Ice Cream Championships in 2017 - not a bad reason to visit. Their range consists of homemade ice cream and sorbet in just a few selected (and naturally very popular) flavours.

One street up from the water in Liljeholmskajen, this ice cream bar draws in locals and swimmers on hot days. The ice cream counter includes masses of different flavours from Rättviksglass served in a cone or cup, or to take home with you in cartons. Take a seat inside or out, or enjoy your ice cream on a nearby swimming jetty.

This cosy spot on Åsögatan serves Italian coffee, filled baguettes and Vietnamese dishes – and ice cream, attracting both coffee and lunch guests. Don't miss the winning combination of a good espresso and freshly made ice cream in summery flavours.

Francis & Francis make artisanal soft-serve ice cream made from milk and cream from Wapnö, as well as plant-based options for vegans. 

Brot's own-made gelato has been awarded medals in the ice-cream national championships in no less than two categories. They serve gelato all year round, and the flavour selection varies according to the seasons. They often celebrate high days and holidays such as Christmas and Cinnamon Bun Day with special edition ice creams. 

Gelateria Amore is handily located just a stone's throw from all the bathing spots around Hornstull, Reimersholme and Långholmen. As well as traditional gelato, they also serve vegan gelato. The gelato is made with less sugar than most ice creams but it doesn't compromise on flavour.

Organic Italian ice cream, made from Swedish milk and flavoured with natural ingredients, is the name of the game here. Sjöstaden Gelato, in Hammarby Allé, uses fruit purees, among other ingredients, to flavour their ice cream.
