Stockholm's best rooftop bars

Since 2015, Urban Deli's "roof park" - a large, open-air area with a glass pavilion - on the ninth floor has been the place to go to hang out and look out over the city centre. Have something to eat or drink in one of the bars, listen to music, eat tapas from Urban Deli's food hall and check out the 360 degree views - whatever the weather.

Tak on Brunkebergstorg serves Nordic-Japanese cocktails, sake and other drinks in their bar fourteen floors up. During the summer months they open up their outdoor dining area, which quickly fills up on sunny days. 

Enjoy everything from food and drinks to an outdoor cinema and live sports events streaming on a 1200 square metre large terrace, 47 metres above ground. The inspiration for this multi-destination is dynamic big city parks, but transported a few floors up.

This year-round destination boasts one of the best views in town, with Södermalm, Kungsholmen, and the City Hall in the background. Cocktails take centre stage here, with both signature drinks and classics on offer, but the bar is well stocked with options for all tastes. Food-wise, you can pick and choose from international dishes in large and smaller portions. The outdoor terrace opens in the summer.

The Norse goddess Freyja has leant her name to the first restaurant in Södermalm from the Stureplan restaurant group. As well as a restaurant serving lunch, dinner and brunch, with Swedish and internationally inspired dishes, they open up a roof terrace called Söder in the summer with space for 400 bar guests. Eat and drink well on Hornsgatan, with views over the waters of Riddarfjärden and the Old Town. 

You'll find this á la carte restaurant on the rooftop of the Blique by Nobis hotel. Enjoy a dinner inspired by European and Asian cuisines on the restaurant's terrace under the stars. In addition to the food and drink, you can enjoy the beautiful views,  not least during the summer months when the roof terrace is open. 

In the summer of 2024, Pelago opened, with a large rooftop terrace atop Katarinahuset in Slussen with 760 square metres, several bars, around 200 seats and space for a total of 800 guests. Enjoy grilled food and sip on cocktails with a lovely summery view of the Stockholm skyline.

There's been a branch of the restaurant chain Basta on the rooftop of Åhléns City department store since summer 2022. Leave the big city buzz down below and step into this Capri-inspired restaurant and bar with a large roof terrace. You'll find traditional Italian delicacies such as pasta and pizza, as well as refreshing cocktails. In 2024 it was named Europe's Best Rooftop Restaurant at the World Culinary Awards.

Would you like to have a sauna, swim, relax and drink cocktails all in the same place? Then get yourself along to Scandic Camper on Brunkebergstorg. Right at the top of the hotel building you'll find the wellness area and cocktail lounge with magnificent views over the city.

Kollektivet Livet has moved into the former Birka cruiseship terminal in Slussen and created a restaurant and bar which serves simple food and drinks, accompanied by a spectacular view over Stockholm. At weekends DJs set the right summer tone. 

The Stureplan group opened their Italian rooftop restaurant Spesso 18 floors up on Malmskillnadsgatan in 2020, with an adjoining rooftop bar that goes by the name of Tetto. You can eat and have a glass of wine as you admire the views over the rooftops. The bar offerings include signature cocktails and a snack menu.

On the roof of Kulturhuset on Sergels torg, you can enjoy a snack or have something to eat or drink, attend a concert, and take in the view of the city. Every summer, they offer a varied programme with both talks and music up on the roof.

In collaboration with Stockholms Bränneri, Villa Foresta is launching a thoughtfully curated food and drink concept. The terrace, known as Glasbaren, is located directly adjacent to the iconic building with views over Stockholm's inlet – where the sea breeze meets the evening sun.

From right up at the top of the iconic old Skatteskrapan skyscraper there are views over Södermalm and right out to the very edges of the city. 104 metres above ground you'll find the Himlen which serves lunch, dinner and cocktails in relaxed surroundings with generous opening hours. 

Right at the top of the Sthlm 01 skyscraper, Sjöstaden Skybar boasts spectacular views over the city. Eat lunch and dinner inspired by the cuisines of southern Europe, North and South America and the Middle East, with an emphasis on smoked and chargrilled food. Cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks flow from the bar. During the summer months they open up the west-facing terrace where drinks and snacks are served. Don't miss a visit to the toilets, which have fantastic views over the Globen building.

On the ninth floor of the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel you can enjoy classic drinks and the bar's own innovative cocktails, with views over Södermalm, Stadshuset and the water. A light bar menu is served alongside the cocktails. As the bar's indoors, you can enjoy Stockholm from above all year round, whatever the weather. 

The Villa Dahlia boutique hotel on Tegnérlunden boasts a lush courtyard and a Continental rooftop bar that opens in the summer. They serve cocktails, aperitivo, and smaller dishes are served, all with a panoramic view over Stockholm's rooftops.

Up on the roof of NK department store, you can both work out and relax with a view over the city. Ascaro operates a facility with padel courts, an outdoor gym, and a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy Mediterranean-inspired food, bubbles and drinks. The facility also includes a sauna with an ice bath and a 300-metre long running track.

With views over the rooftops surrounding Stureplan, Scandic Anglais' tucked-away terrace on the seventh floor is a sunny place to enjoy a few drinks. There are often live DJs during the summer months. The roof bar is open to the public from the end of May until September, during the other months you can only book the terrace for private events. 

Sjöfartshotellet's roof bar Sailor is a real rooftop bar classic. The place is decorated along the hotel's marine lines and boasts unbeatable views over the entrance to Stockholm harbour.

South of the city in Stockholm's answer to the Meatpacking District, you'll find Slakthuset, which has become a popular watering hole for thirsty club kids. The huge terrace up on the roof attracts a more mixed crowd, with its sun loungers, palm trees, excellent cocktails and great music.

You'll find Le Hibou, a cocktail bar and roof terrace, right at the top of the Bank Hotel. The decor is inspired by glamorous Parisian apartments and the views from the two terraces are hard to beat. The bar serves primarily innovative cocktails.

Next to Italienskan restaurant, you'll find a terrace that goes by the appropriate name Terrazza. It's definitely not the city's highest rooftop bar, but might just be the cosiest? With views over Hötorget you can order something from the grill or pizza oven in the outdoor kitchen as you take in the Italian atmosphere. The menu consists of everything from antipasti to pasta dishes and dolci. 

If you're looking for a truly luxurious experience you should book a table at Le Bar, which is connected to Pontus Frithiof's power dining restaurant La Tour. At the very top on the 23rd floor of the DN skyscraper, they serve a wide selection of the finest bubbles - champagne, in other words. Combine it with caviar, some snacks or a whole three-course meal specially composed to elevate the drink to new heights.

Dramatenterrassen in the Royal Dramatic Theatre serves up delightful views over Nybroplan along with tasty food and drinks. 

Gaze out over Lake Mälaren while sipping a drink in the rooftop bar of this brasserie located right by the water in Jungfrusund. The rooftop bar is open in fine weather and offers stunning panoramic views in beautiful natural surroundings.

The world's first wine hotel with its very own winery can be found next to Haga Park in Solna. Sit on the roof terrace in the summer and enjoy delicious wines, produced from grapes grown in Tuscany. The Winery Hotel also organises masses of wine-related courses, tastings and other events.
