The best brunch spots in the city centre and Old Town

This laid-back meeting place on Hötorget from the ever-reliable Bockholmen restaurant group serves a brunch at weekends. The menu revolves around European influences, with both classic brunch dishes and innovative elements, as well as brunch cocktails. During the summer months you can enjoy your meal on the sun-kissed outdoor dining area. 

Österlånggatan 17 serves a great long lunch with both small and main courses to choose from. Celebrate the weekend with mini burgers, small tacos, salads, meatballs and Swedish/French desserts.

Mister French puts on a weekend brunch loaded with shellfish, grilled dishes and bubbles. You'll find oysters, mini burgers, charcuterie, masses of side dishes and, naturally, an entire dessert table. All served in a 1920s former custom house with unbeatable views over the harbour.

Spanish brunch tapas combine with drinks such as sangria, juices and Bloody Marys at Boqueria in the Mood shopping arcade. A very popular à la carte tip for anyone in the mood for brunch with a Mediterranean flavour.

Knut Bar combines wilderness vibes with an urban edge and serves a brunch buffet that includes scrambled eggs, scones, flatbread wraps, Västerbotten cheese and sweet treats. 

Izakaya, Tak's take on a traditional Japanese beer hall, serves brunch with Japanese influences and top-notch ingredients. The restaurant is fourteen floors up, with stunning views, and they serve brunch dishes with Japanese flavours, along with cocktails and juices.

On Skeppsbron, just a few steps from the waterfront, is the magnificent building that houses Hotell Reisen. The hotel has an elegant restaurant that's open all day and welcomes guests for everything from cocktails and jazz to everyday lunches and, not least, brunch with classic dishes such as eggs, salads, sandwiches and happy endings like French toast and pancakes.

This social meeting place is open all week. At weekends they serve brunch dishes with international influences. A perfect opportunity to tuck into all kinds of delicious dishes. While you're there, pick up some weekend treats in the food hall next door.

The island of Skeppsholmen feels like an excursion, right in the middle of the city. Combine a weekend brunch with a visit to Moderna Museet's exhibitions – but you can also visit the restaurant on its own. The buffet is filled with homemade dishes based on seasonal produce and with a theme tied to one of the current exhibitions. The magnificent view over the water and Djurgården is an experience in itself.

Waffles and pancakes are classic brunch elements, and at Dirty Coco they're served with strawberries, Nutella, ice cream and whipped cream. The decor is equally sugar-sweet, with tones of pink and walls and ceiling covered with thousands of flowers. If you don't have a particularly sweet tooth they also serve grilled sandwiches and healthy bowls.

The restaurant in Hallwylska museet's inner courtyard is open from spring to autumn and they serve lunch at weekends. The menu consists of both Swedish and southern European flavours that match the Continental surroundings. A true oasis in the heart of the city.

Jacqueline's on Malmskillnadsgatan takes you on a gastronomic journey from Stockholm city to the Mediterranean. On Saturdays they serve brunch, with dishes including their popular reuben sandwiches and their signature dish, pinsa, on the menu. 

Round off the week with Asian flavours in the heart of town. Weidao gets its culinary inspiration from Asian cities such as Bangkok, Seoul and Beijing. Eat sushi, stir-fry, ramen and bimbimbap made with selected ingredients, all at reasonable prices.

The hallowed halls of Berns are transformed into a buffet paradise at weekends. They lay out an Asian-influenced brunch under the crystal chandeliers, with everything from sushi to hot dishes and  Round off your meal with homemade cakes and pastries from Berns' own bakery. Cold dishes are served as a buffet and hot dishes are ordered at the table. 

The restaurant at Miss Clara Hotel serves up an à la carte-brunch inspired by New York and London. Pick and choose from everything from sandwiches and eggs to cocktails.  

At Bonnie's inside the Bank Hotel you can brunch in Breakfast at Tiffany's style surroundings. The restaurant is in a former banking hall that's been transformed with velvet sofas, chequered floors and chandeliers. Their brunch concept is called Lazy Breakfast & Bubbles and it consists of a cold buffet as well as a choice of à la carte dishes that you can pick and choose freely from. All topped off with a glass of champagne.

On Saturdays, Griffin's Steakhouse lays out their brunch buffet. Pick and choose from classic brunch dishes, as well as their own favourites, freshly-grilled meat, salads and vegetarian dishes. Just make sure you save some room for the dessert buffet.

BodyBuddy aims to make food that's both nutritious and delicious, from ingredients that are local, organic and seasonal. At weekends they serve colourful brunch dishes such as sandwiches, bowls and salads, but their regular menu also works as brunch on weekdays.

In addition to their usual offering, Kaferang also have several brunch dishes on their menu. How about pulled beef, cold-smoked salmon and pancakes?

Sweet, savoury, acidic - at Karamell they've consciously created a menu that hits all the right notes. Dishes of various sizes are paired with cocktails from the bar to be enjoyed inside the cosy restaurant or out on the sunny outdoor terrace when the weather permits.

Iconic Swedish film star Greta Garbo provides inspiration for this elegant restaurant which oozes 1920s glamour. The menu is frequently updated, with dishes dictated by the chefs' creativity and ingredients' seasonality - but we hope their avocado sandwich is here to stay.
