Where to find Stockholm restaurants open during the summer

Eden, housed in a 19th century wooden villa on Smedsudden, has become a real summer favourite with sun-worshipping Stockholmers. Amidst the lush greenery by the waters of Årstaviken, Taley serves up a summer hangout with Thai food, bar vibes, and live music on the terrace. It's a great place to visit with family or friends and relax in the shade or under the sun. There's also a kids' menu available for the little ones.

Since 2022, Plåtparken, which started out in Skanstull, has been a staple of summertime Stockholm. The concept can now be found on the quayside in Marievik, where about a dozen old containers have been converted into a dynamic bar and restaurant spanning several levels, with comfortable areas to hang out and chat away a few hours. The menu features street food and various refreshing drinks. You can also play boules and enjoy a sauna.

On the hill above Brunnsviken and Hagaparken's jetty is the spa hotel Hagastrand, which opens its restaurant Eira during the summer. Fish and meat are grilled here and served with generous sides, and on warm days you can enjoy chilled drinks with a great view. The summer pub Måsen opened in 2023 outside Münchenbryggeriet and since then it's become a popular hangout with views over Riddarfjärden. Hang out here all summer and eat Mediterranean dishes or have a glass of wine.

In Lilla Blecktornsparken in Skanstull you'll find Bleck, whose sun-drenched terrace has been a favourite among Södermalm locals and people from other parts of the city since it opened. Hardly surprising, given the great vibe. Bleck is open for long lunches in the sun through to drinks and DJs into the evening, and everyone is welcome here.

If you fancy a fairytale setting, don't miss the inner courtyard of Hallwylska museet, which houses a Continental restaurant and bar open all year round. Southern European and Swedish flavours pair with cocktails, mocktails, wine and champagne.

Boulebar in Rålambshovsparken is open all year round and since 2020 and they also have a sister branch in Haga park. Come to eat French-inspired lunch, dinner or brunch and, naturally, to challenge your party to a little boules. A true summer pleasure for all ages.

Most people know Debaser Strand; a proper long-running venue when it comes to concerts and clubs in Stockholm. They host everything from nostalgia clubs with 90s themes to hard rock concerts, as well as pop quizzes and other quizzes in between. But fewer people may know about their summer restaurant that floats on a pontoon on the shoreline. Come here to eat and drink summery flavours while the boats glide past. From time to time, concerts are also held here out on the water.

Since spring 2024, the rooftop restaurant Pelago has sat high at the top of the Katarinahuset building in Slussen. Pelago is open during the spring and summer seasons and is a true oasis where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled food, sip cocktails, and socialise with a magical view of Stockholm. Nearby, you'll also find neighbouring restaurants Gondolen and Café Klotet.

Right on the quayside in the middle of Strandvägen, Glashuset is a charming summer hangout with the water just a few steps from the outdoor terrace and a perfect sunny position for lazy afternoons with a drink in hand. The team behind the restaurant are from popular spots such as Boqueria and Kommendören.

Twelve floors above the sparkling waters of Slussen and its bustling streets and squares lies Café Klotet, which you get to by following the Katarina footbridge from Mosebacke torg. With stylish interiors, cool design choices and a trendy vibe, this venue attracts an in-the-know crowd who know what they want from a restaurant. During the summer months, the Michelin-starred restaurant Celeste expands with a rooftop terrace where the rooftops of Södermalm provide the backdrop. How does uncomplicated yet finely crafted food made from selected ingredients sound, ideally enjoyed on an outdoor terrace when the weather allows? This is what awaits you at Portal, Chef of the Year winner Klas Lindberg's restaurant, on Sankt Eriksplan. Here, the focus is on flavours from both Scandinavia and Southern Europe in the format of snacks, starters, main courses, and desserts, preferably accompanied by a glass of wine or perhaps a craft beer.

Take a break from your summer shopping or escape the heat of the pavements and head up to the rooftop of the Åhléns City department store. The Italian chain Basta has had a restaurant here since 2022, transporting you to Capri and the Italian coast with leafy trees and brightly patterned china. Dishes include homemade pasta and Neapolitan pizza, which you can pair with a cocktail, cold beer or wine.

This Italian gem with Manhattan vibes is tucked away in the heart of the city. To get to Spesso you take the lift from Malmskillnadsgatan up to the rooftops, where there large roof terrace has plenty of space to eat and drink as the sun goes down. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet lively, and works equally well for a few cocktails as dinner in the restaurant.
