Where to find vegetarian Christmas julbord in Stockholm

Popular, plant-based ChouChou is run by chef Gustav Johansson, who has made a name for himself for his excellent vegan food. At this restaurant inside the Mood shopping mall they'll be laying out an entirely plant-based Christmas buffet from 1–23 December, filled with classic dishes as well as the restaurant's own, new creations. Their julbord is served several days a week with several sittings per day.

Hermans has long been a favourite vegetarian spot in Stockholm and the view's not bad either. They serve a completely plant-based julbord with vegan-friendly interpretations of classic Swedish Christmas dishes. A popular alternative to traditional ham and herring.

Ulriksdals Värdshus' traditional julbord has plenty of dishes specially made for vegans and vegetarians - and of course a lot that is naturally vegetarian and vegan. When you arrive you're offered a special menu where you can see everything that's suitable, and at a slightly lower price – vegetarians get a 30% discount on the bill and vegans 40%.

Fjäderholmarnas krog might just be one of Stockholm's most idyllic destinations for a magical julbord. Take the ferry from Nybrokajen and within 30 minutes you'll arrive at Fjäderholmarna islands, where a Christmas meal in charming archipelago surroundings awaits, with plenty of vegetarian options.

The magnificent old state archive building has been serving a popular julbord for the past five years. The historic rooms create a glamorous festive feel and the buffet, created by celebrity chef Niklas Ekstedt, is generously laid with classic Christmas food, including plenty of green options for vegetarians and vegans.

Fotografiska welcomes in Christmas with traditional festive flavours combined with luxurious flavour sensations, and naturally there's an emphasis on minimising food waste as much as possible. The focus is on sustainable enjoyment, with flavours that belong to the season and Christmas specifically. The menu is plant-based, with a few animal protein elements - and is for groups of 75-184 seated guests. Your party will have the beautiful dining room to yourselves and table service in the order of the day. 

Enjoy an alternative julbord in the heart of Stureplan with a round trip to Asia at East. Korean pancakes, modern sushi and other Asian dishes, with masses of vegetarian and vegan options, are just a few of the things you'll find on their buffet table. Round off your meal with Asian-inspired sweet treats.

Outside Villa Godthem the snow is (hopefully) glistening and open fires are crackling inside and out. In an the old merchant's villa out on Djurgården, the restaurant lays out a classic Christmas buffet, with dishes made according to classic recipes and with traditional ingredients. Vegetarians and vegans get a 30% discount.

Ulla Winbladh has been serving a traditional julbord out on Djurgården for decades, but that doesn't stop them from catering to their vegetarian or vegan guests. The restaurant offers a classic as well as a completely vegan julbord. You'll find plant-based versions of all the traditional julbord dishes, such as vegan pickled herring made from aubergine and zucchini, grilled tofu, vegan chipolatas and "meat"balls with mushroom sauce.

Just a short boat ride from the city centre, Rökeriet oozes Christmas spirit, in beautiful archipelago surroundings and with a vegan Christmas buffet with elements from their own smokehouse. Their julbord culminates in a room filled with sweets and desserts.

Solliden's dining room at Skansen welcome their guests to a traditional julbord with a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Naturally, there's also a dessert table full of homemade sweets and other festive treats. Go and wish the Skansen animals a happy Christmas while you're here.

O´Learys Tolv at Globen warmly welcome their guests to a fun-packed julbord. They serve a classic Swedish julbord with a generous vegan table in a space that has plenty of room for both large and small groups. In addition to food and drink you can entertain yourselves with bowling, shuffleboard, karaoke and more - all at special prices.

At Capricci, they've swapped out the traditional Christmas buffet for a wintry three-course menu. In cinematic surroundings overlooking the water, grilled celeriac is served as a starter, portabello for the main course and saffron pannacotta for dessert, with familiar flavours given Capricci's own Italian twist.

At the Spritmuseum on Djurgården they've been busy infusing spirits and preserving the summer harvest. Local producers and ingredients take centre stage at this popular museum restaurant. Their entire Christmas menu is made from ingredients from local producers and the restaurant's own gardens. Ring in advance for a special vegetarian menu. 

This year the traditional julbord has been forced to stand aside to make room for two new stars on the scene - a three-course winter menu and a colourful buffet. Färgfabriken's food philosophy is based around local food in seasonal, lots of organic produce and more plants than meat on your plate. This Christmas celebration is for larger groups.

Växthuset, which shares its premises with Under Bron, serves a seven-course julbord with Swedish, plant-based ingredients in season as well as a wine package with selected natural wines. You can also book their chambre séparée and catering.
