Edit 2020: Was a few years ago and now I was here again and had a great night so I raise the rating a notch. Nice presentations, good food and nice staff. Strong recommendation on the pig side.

Had a strange visit to Agnes today, which I have wanted to try ever since they opened. First impression positive. Nice room and very nice entrance with chef's table and open kitchen. Quite small place and very high noise level, which I like, but think many had found it disturbing or at least on the verge of it.

Once at the table, the visit started with fantastic service and we ordered 6 small dishes to share. After two dishes I was blissful and thought "if it continues like this, it will be full pot on the first try". The first was ceviche and the second was a tuna tartar on shrimp chips and some aioli. Sick good. After three more dishes (lobster roll, octopus croquettes and calf braise) I was still very happy, but full pot won't be tonight.

After the 5th court, they pick out our plates (we've got every dish in the middle, and each had an assiett), which we thought they did because they got a little too messy on the last court. All the previous dishes have come at a good pace, but now we are sitting. After 10 minutes we start to wonder if they have forgotten our chicken wings with Asian BBQ sauce, but since they did not ask if we wanted neither coffee nor dessert, we thought it would be strange if they had forgotten both the last dish and to ask us about it.

After 15 minutes we understand that they forgot about us and start trying to make eye contact to order the bill (we are in a bit of a hurry and do not have time to wait for the last dish). But it's almost like they're ignoring us (note that the guy we've had as a waiter during the evening was AWESOME until he picked out our plates, so I don't want to be too harsh in my judgment). After 20 minutes, my company stands up and goes to the bar and asks for the check and informs them that they forgot our last dish. This was a very sour aftertaste on a visit that has been very successful until then. It felt pretty unnecessary, too. Forgetting a dish is no problem at all, but letting us sit and stare for so long in combination did not turn out well.

No discount or offer of affe/dessert/similar compensation, however, a hefty apology. Can also add that even after 6 dishes (of 2 people) I would probably have liked at least one more right. They were quite small. So when we also missed one of the dishes, it clearly became too little. Thought to order 3 small dishes and 2 main courses, but my company thought it felt a lot and the waiter agreed (good thought, then, but I would probably have preferred it).

So all in all, very good, potential to be a full scorer, but tonight the mistake made us walk away with a very sour distaste.
