Tradition, right next to the Royal Palace in the Old Town, is renowned for its traditional Swedish homecooking. Uncomplicated cuisine, using top quality ingredients and cooked with knowledge and skill, is the order of the day here.
The light, airy restaurant on Österlånggatan is decorated in Scandinavian style with simple, pared-back furniture and natural tones. Come by to eat typical Swedish homecooking dishes, for Sunday dinner or in the middle of the week. Anders Hassellhöf is responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and the restaurant has been run by Erik Löth och Anders Lundström since 2021.
The menu at Tradition includes typically Swedish dishes as well as modern variations on much-loved favourites. The traditional menu consists of starters, main courses and desserts, including dishes such as Toast Skagen, meatballs with traditional accompaniments and classic konditori-style sweet treats.
If you want to make your meal extra authentic, choose from a selection of snaps to pair your meal with. Or kickstart your dinner with a cocktail flavoured with lingonberries, or other Swedish flavours. During the day they serve a daily lunch special along with permanent fixtures such as pea soup on Thursdays.
