Junibacken is a fairytale world for children and their grown-ups. Experience many of the characters and environments that Astrid Lindgren - beloved author of Pippi Longstocking - created in her books, as well as characters from other popular children's books. They change their exhibitions regularly, to ensure visiting always feels fresh and up to date.

Junibacken opened in 1996 and since then it has become one of Stockholm's top five tourist attractions, with several hundred thousand visitors per year. The various exhibitions encourage play and fun in storybook worlds, and there are regular theatrical performances based on popular books. They also stock Sweden's largest selection of children's books in the bookshop - as well as a thrilling train ride through fairytale worlds.

Several times a week, the stories are brought to life with theatrical performances, so you can take a deep dive with your child into the fantastic world of theatre. Stories, poetry and reality combine, often for the first time for many of the younger visitors.

Having fun for hours on end will make you hungry. Refuel in the circus-themed restaurant, which serves homemade Swedish favourites - including those perennial favourites, meatballs and pancakes - as well as vegetarian alternatives. The kitchen works with seasonal produce, often locally grown and organic.

After the visit you can buy souvenirs in the museum shop, such as puzzles, games, toys, posters and much more. The store also includes Sweden's largest children's book shop, with both classics and contemporary books.

Junibacken throws you back to your childhood. A look back at all of Astrid's wonderful stories. I've been there at both corporate events, with the school when I was younger, but it's something very special to be there with your own child. There are lots of games and activities, the St...

Spent a nice summer day with my niece of four years here. Incredibly appreciated by the little one, although the fairytale train became a bit too scary for her. Overall, it is well worth a visit, but there were a lot of people which does not directly lead to any relaxing experience.

Fun for the kids with everything from Astrid Lindgren's world. The fairytale train is recommended, even for adults with a children's mind.

A top museum for all families! Nice and playful environments that are adapted for children and young people. Good food to be museum and lekvärld, to children recommended organic meatballs and mashed potatoes or organic pancakes. A bit older, there are always three different and very fresh food...
