Stampen is a bar and restaurant on Stora Nygatan 5, Old Town in Stockholm.

Kom igen katten, det svänger ju! På Stampen i Gamla stan kan du spisa jazz och rhythm and blues sex kvällar i veckan. Jazzklubben såg dagens ljus i slutet av 1960-talet och har sedan dess lockat både stockholmare och besökare i alla åldrar att umgås kring musik.
Historien om Stampen fick sin början när jazzälskaren Sten Holmquist upptäckte pantbanken Stampen, som fick sitt namn från de stämplar som kunderna fick för föremål de lämnat in som pant. År 1968 byggdes Stampen därmed om till jazzpub. Här blir det livat om kvällarna, med musik, mat, dryck och uppsluppet umgänge. Många av de antika föremålen i lokalen, till exempel uppstoppade djur och gamla instrument, hänger i taket som en påminnelse om historien.
Idag är det en närmast legendarisk plats för livemusik. Många olika genrer ryms här, från jazz och blues till soul och r&b, eller som de själva uttrycker det: “American roots music”. Här har legender som Teddy Wilson, Ben Webster, Lucky Thompson, Dexter Gordon, Marty Feldman, Woody Allen, Monica Zetterlund, Toots Thieleman, Eartha Kitt, Dizzie Gillespie och Charlie Norman spelat – för att bara nämna några. Både nya stjärnskott och etablerade musiker tar plats på scenen och varje vecka vankas jazz- och bluesjam där även gästerna är välkomna att delta med sina instrument.

Everything to do with schlager goes to my house and to have the opportunity to sing ABBA to a six-piece band in perhaps the coziest and spectacular bar ever with an audience containing everything from southern kisars, kareoke nerds, those who are really a little too old but want to keep the spark to life alive, cultural profiles and tone-deaf tourists, It can only be a success. Fantastic atmosphere that becomes possible thanks to sickly good musicians, 140 songs to choose from, a small local, lovely people and some voices they get the roof to lift!
I haven't eaten anything here and I don't think I will either as there are other restaurants that feel more worthy of prioritizing. But that I will be here every time this evening falls in the future, you can count on!
