The story of Stampen began when jazz lover Sten Holmquist discovered the pawnshop Stampen, which got its name from the stamps that customers received for items they had deposited as pawn. In 1968, Stampen was thus converted into a jazz pub. Things get lively in the evenings, with music, food, drinks and cheerful socialising. Lots of the antique objects in the premises, such as stuffed animals and old instruments, hang from the ceiling as a reminder of history.
These days, it's a legendary place for live music. Many different genres are represented here, from jazz and blues to soul and R&B, or as they themselves put it: “American roots music”. Legends like Teddy Wilson, Ben Webster, Lucky Thompson, Dexter Gordon, Marty Feldman, Woody Allen, Monica Zetterlund, Toots Thieleman, Eartha Kitt, Dizzie Gillespie and Charlie Norman have played here – to name just a few. Both rising stars and established musicians take the stage and every week there are jazz and blues jams where guests are welcome to participate with their instruments.

Fantastic atmosphere that becomes possible thanks to sickly good musicians, 140 songs to choose from, a small local, lovely people and some voices they get the roof to lift!
