Stockholm's best Latin American restaurants

Loosen up those Nordic joints at the retro pop restaurant Supper. Latin American flavours have been collected during trips to the Caribbean and South American, and they flow out onto the table and into the glass. Small dishes such as ceviche and jerk chicken can be found on the menu alongside larger meat and fish dishes, South American wine and refreshing cocktails.

Checa in Skanstull is run by Valentin Checa, who left the world of finance to cook Peruvian food inspired by his own memories and experiences. You'll fine ceviche and other authentic dishes from Peru on the menu, along with drinks such as pisco sour and Peruvian beer. 

This Peruvian and Latin American street food restaurant on Grev Turegatan is run by former Birger Jarl restaurateur Per Nordlind and his wife Erika Goytizolo. The menu includes classic dishes, such as ceviche and tiraditos. The atmosphere in the 150 square metre restaurant is warm and welcoming, with stylish decor. 

If you're looking for Brazilian beef, Argentinian entrecote or just simply grilled South American food, that's exactly what you'll get at this rustic meat restaurant. They grill their meat in an open kitchen and serve it with sides such as fried sweet potatoes, frites and quesadillas. All in all a sociable spot to hang out with strong Latin American influences and references. 

With party organiser Damon Rasti at the helm, Yuc on Odenplan quickly became a Mexican favourite in Stockholm. The concept revolves around tacos, ceviche and cocktails. After their success in Vasastan, they opened up Yuc LatAsian, a fusion restaurant with flavours from Latin America, and a summer restaurant in Tantolunden park.

Yono Sabo is not purely Latin American, but much of the inspiration for the food and drinks comes from Mexico. Expect taquitos, burritos, and tacos on the menu, and cocktails with tajin and mezcal on the drinks list. The decor is bistro style with well-thought-out design and colour choices.

Tacos galore, ice-cold margaritas, calaveras and cacti – there's no doubt that Mexico provides the inspiration at Tres. You can visit this vibrant restaurant in the city for lunch or an evening filled with drinks, food, and music curated by a DJ.

This Mexican taquería La Neta is famous for its simple, budget-friendly concept. As well as tacos, you can order quesadillas with, for example, melted cheese or potatoes, for lunch and dinner. It's a popular spot, so be prepared to queue at certain times of the day.

Popular Mondo serves tapas in a number of different ways, both traditional and innovative. Influences come not only from Spain and the Mediterranean but also Latin America and Mexico. The menu includes around thirty tapas with fish, meat, seafood and vegetarian options.

Peppar has become a real favourite with its kitsch setting in which rock music, beer and food from the southern states come together. After work drinks, party atmosphere and Creole culinary influences, with dishes such as jambalaya and chili stews on the menu, all come together at this Sankt Eriksplan joint. Count on a fun, friendly atmosphere at this always-busy spot.

Experience new flavours at Indio Kitchen, where they create fusion dishes from Asian and South American cuisines, in particular Japan and Peru. The menu consists of dishes such as ceviche and sushi which you can accompany with wine, cocktails or Japanese beer.
