The guide to Stockholm's best spots for live music

At Parken Söder, it's all about rock, and every weekend local rock bands take to the stage to play their songs with a bang. Occasionally, larger bands perform here as well. And even though it's a rock bar, it's not just rock music that's played here – sometimes other influences find their way into the programme.

Fasching is a concert venue, club, restaurant and bar where you can listen to music almost every night of the week, all year round. Over the years, both Swedish and foreign greats have played during thousands of concert nights, including Chet Baker, Carla Bley, Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis and Wayne Shorter - to name just a few. Today, both unknown and established musicians play here, making it Scandinavia's largest organiser of jazz events.

Glenn Miller is one of Stockholm's most important jazz venues. Live music is performed here several nights a week in an intimate setting with candlelight and framed photos of musicians on the walls. If you want to secure a seat, booking a table for dinner is recommended, but there are often standing spots at the bar.

Some of Sweden's best-known artists and bands have taken to the stage at Debaser Strand, as well as plenty of international artists. The combination of great atmosphere, fantastic location and up-for-it crowds make this a perennially popular venue. Come by with a gang of pals to listen to music, dance or hang out at the bars. During the summer time they extend out onto Debaser's floating terrace, Debaser Pontonen.

Stampen in the Old Town has become a popular meeting place for music fans of all ages who appreciate everything from American folk music to traditional jazz, modern blues and soul and r&b. In short: the music they play here all has its roots in America. Drop by for a beer, cocktail or glass of wine and enjoy the lively atmosphere Stampen's become known for.

Kollektivet Livet runs the bar and stage in Stadsgårdsterminalen cultural centre. And there's plenty going on on the stage here. New talents and well-known names alike perform everything from pop to rock for Stockholmers and visitors dancing, sweating, singing, laughing and crying together. The bar is close to the stage, so you can fill up your energy and hydration levels with various refreshing drinks, and during the summer months you can move outside onto the terrace. 

If you love the USA, Mexican food, margaritas, tequila and music, Geronimo's in the Old Town is right up your street. The restaurant puts on regular live music performances, music quizzes and karaoke nights. Geronimo's motto is ”Fucking Good Times!”, which speaks for itself.

Engelen in the heart of the Old Town is a classic English-style pub that provides entertainment for their guests seven days a week. Bands and solo artists alike perform on the stage and the gig programme is updated regularly. The pub is open both day and nighttime and and you can always drop by to quench your thirst with a drink at the bar, or have something to eat.

S:ta Clara has been in Stockholm since 1953, but it's moved around to several different venues around the city since then. These days the restaurant can be found in the Old Town. Drop by if you're in the mood for a large selection of beer, classic Swedish homecooking and jazz. Live jazz or blues plays almost every evening in the cellar venue and every year S:ta Clara takes part in the Stockholm Jazz Festival.

Live bands, troubadours, orchestras - experience music from every corner of the world at Reimersholm. Bop and sway to reggae, indie, rock and more, just a short walk from Hornstull. During the summer months you can enjoy the concerts outside in the garden. 

This colourful coffee bar, restaurant, and bar has a basement that fills up with live acts every weekend, often featuring exciting up-and-coming artists. They've invested heavily in the sound system to make the experience as immersive as possible, and it's not unusual to hear music of a poppier nature blasting from the speakers.

The Irish pub Wirströms in the Old Town is familiar to many. Enjoy a beer in a relaxed atmosphere, socialise with friends, and listen to live music several times a week. Sometimes Irish folk music is on the agenda, other times there's open mic, and on weekends, it often turns into blues. Don't miss the sibling pub on Kungsgatan, which offers live music on weekends.

Just a stone's throw from Stureplan, live music is played in the jazz club at Hotel Kung Carl a couple of times a week. Drop in and join the vibe with a delicious drink in hand. If you're a larger group wanting to eat dinner, it's best to book a table.

The Irish pub The Auld Dub combines Irish pub food with beer and whiskey and at weekends live music gets the whole joint jumping. Ideal if you want to hang out with friends in fun, unpretentious surroundings.

More often than not, there's something swinging on the programme, either in the foyer or the cellar of Scalateatern. Both established musicians and newer talents perform here, primarily within the jazz genre. The elegant and snug 1920s decor adds to the atmosphere. 

Erland is famous for good food, drinks and music. Come by to enjoy a cocktail in the company of good friends, get an evening out started or just enjoy the good things in life. On Saturday evenings you can enjoy live music in relaxed surroundings. 

Music-thirsty Stockholmers and curious hotel guests have been enjoying live music of various kinds at this Östermalm hotel for many years. If you want to join them, head to the lobby on Wednesday-Saturday evenings, where you can enjoy great music and drinks. 

Since autumn 2023, the Winterviken stage, housed in Alfred Nobel's old dynamite factory in Gröndal just south of Södermalm, has been hosting concerts featuring Swedish artists. Two hours before the concert, the restaurant also opens for those who wish to have dinner in the cosy industrial premises.

This cosy Irish pub is well known for its live music and great atmosphere. From Wednesday to Saturday there's live music on stage every evening, and you can also enjoy fun karaoke nights down in the basement. 

Every Tuesday - except for over the summer break - Artilleriet hosts Jazz Tuesdays. Enjoy some jazz accompanied by a kicking cocktail from Stjärtilleriet.

A long, long time ago this was a pretty rough neighbourhood – nowadays it's a well-established cocktail bar with really great cocktails. A couple of days a week, there's also jazz, sometimes featuring guest artists, sometimes the house band.

In the basement of Hornstull's Rosetta restaurant, live music is played almost every weekend. It's a nice mix of mixed, often lesser-known, bands playing everything under the sun.

You'll find S:t Erik's Jazz Bar in the cellar of Bagpiper's Inn. It gets quite jazzy on weekends, with both established and new, young musicians playing everything from ballads to experimental jazz from New York.

It's not just beer, whisky, and rustic dishes that draw people to this Södermalm restaurant: Sunday evenings here often mean a relaxed atmosphere with live music in various genres. Explore exciting craft beers, discover a favourite whisky, and enjoy the tunes.

Landet restaurant, a stone's throw from Telelefonplan underground station, is a laid-back oasis for anyone who enjoys live music. The ground floor houses a restaurant and bar and upstairs there's a bar and stage. The intimate "speakeasy" section hosts cultural events and performances and the venue holds around 100 people.
