Where to celebrate the National Day of Sweden in Stockholm

At Skansen, Sweden's National Day is celebrated from morning until evening with various activities for young and old. There will be a flag workshop, old-fashioned games, a national day market and folk dance demonstrations and much more. The day ends with the traditional National Day concert on the Solliden stage attended by the Swedish royal family, which is broadcast on SVT Play. 

The Royal Opera House, Solna stad and the Royal Court invite you to a music festival in the early summer greenery of Hagaparken. There will be family activities, historical guided tours and an early summer concert with ballet and singalongs. Take a seat in the grass in front of Koppartälten and celebrate surrounded by greenery. Entry is free. 

Once again, Rålambshovsparken on Kungsholmen will be hosting a celebration that's open to all and suitable for both young and old. It promises a lively atmosphere, stage programme and activities in the park on the day itself.

Idyllic Herrängens Gård invites you to a National Day celebration in a rural atmosphere. Among other things, there will be refreshments, ice cream, and food to suit both younger and older taste buds, and an outdoor bar will also be set up. Furthermore, Fromageriet will stop by with a cheese truck full of delicacies. For the little ones, there will be fun activities such as a lucky dip, face painting, and balloon sales, and in the garden, Södra Latin's brass sextet will provide musical entertainment.

In the cosy neighbourhood of Vinterviken you can celebrate National Day at Winterviken. They'll be lighting the barbeques and serving a summery barbeque buffet with dessert surrounded by greenery. The large outdoor area is open as long as the weather allows, and the bar will be serving Spritz, beer, cocktails and rosé. You can also look forward to good music and boules. Perfect for a family, group of friends or a date.

June 6th isn't just Sweden's national day, it's also Bleck's birthday. To mark the occasion, they're holding a mega flea market that will expand towards the park and where everyone can take part. Besides the flea market itself, there will be other things happening around it.

Anyone who enjoys a day party shouldn't miss the season opener for Zenit at Eden on 6 June. DJ La Fleur returns for the third year in a row and she is joined by Storken offering disco, italo and house. Fatty Acid will be warming up and there will also be an afterparty with Mattias El Mansouri.

In Kungsträdgården, National Day is celebrated with food, music and a summer vibe all day from 11am to midnight. Among other things there will be food trucks, singalongs and tributes to ABBA and Europe. National Day in Kungsträdgården is an open, popular celebration for everyone who wants to celebrate together in one of Stockholm's best loved parks. Entry is free.

The Bubbles & Brunch day party comes to the roof terrace SUS on Brunkebergstorg, offering panoramic views, ice-cold champagne and world-class streetfood. With DJ Ricky Erixson & Friends, it promises to be lively from the start. Places are limited, so make sure you're there in time. Free admission. 

Hågelbyparken in Tumba will be celebrating with family-friendly fun and activities. There will be entertainment on the stage and Botkyrka municipality will be welcoming new Swedish citizens. Have something to eat and drink while you're there at Café Anna Giertz, say hello to the animals in the petting zoo, play kubb, walk on stilts and much more.

National Day means race day at Gärdet. Fast horses and brave jockeys compete to take first place while the festival around them takes place with artists, children's activities, a hat parade and plenty of food and drink. For the first time, the Swedish Championship in pony racing will also be run during the National Day Derby. Admission is free.

The food-tour app Moveat has created a Swedish-flavoured food walk for National Day. Choose between the city and Södermalm, then simply follow the app and, at your own pace, discover the selected restaurants that combine flavours from modern Sweden into one sunny culinary experience. 

Villa Källhagen celebrates on 6 June with a BBQ buffet in the greenery next to Djurgård canal. Expect summery flavours, freshly grilled meat, chicken, vegetarian options, salads and accompaniments, and you can also combine lunch or dinner with a stroll on Djurgården, a glass on the outdoor seating area or a spot of boules. If you want to extend the celebration you can also book an overnight stay at the hotel.

Artipelag celebrates the national day with a grand concert with Lill Lindfors reciting. The concert features soprano Kerstin Avemo, baritone Arvid Fagerfjäll, Sofia Vocal Ensemble, the Filialen Orchestra and conductor Bengt Ollén. Among other pieces, Lars-Erik Larsson's Förklädd Gud and spring classics such as Wilhelm Stenhammar's Sverige and David Wikander's Förvårskväll will be played.

At the popular Spritmuseum on Djurgården, National Day is celebrated with sandwich cake and sparkling wine on the jetty and in Bersån. Inside the museum, you can also explore the exhibitions and try Smakbrickan VR, a tasting experience with or without VR.

For anyone who wants to celebrate Sweden's National Day in a summery club environment, Trädgården is an obvious choice. The Södermalm club is hosting the Tequila Club Festival, which means a full day and evening filled with Mexican drinks, music, a lively atmosphere, and (hopefully) sunshine. The event is in collaboration with Tequila Club, Stockholm's most secretive pop-club.

On National Day and over the entire weekend, there will be a food festival with food trucks, bars and music at Tantobadet near Hornstull. National Day itself is celebrated with Mosquitos' National Day party. The party is open to all ages and it's completely free.

The jazz band Siberian Hotheads play at Mälarpaviljongen, offering their dance-friendly mix of jazz, swing and Latin American rhythms with influences from the 1940s. Eddy Cabrera and Jennifer Love Lopez are also performing. All against the backdrop of Mälarpaviljonen's lush oasis by the water where the colours of the rainbow welcome everyone.

Stockholm Municipality invites you to A Day at Slussen, filling Södermalmstorg with music, entertainment, talks, play and the opportunity to learn all about Slussen. Project Slussen will be there, providing information about the square and Mälarterrassen. The programme suits all ages and admission is free.

Sweden's National Day has been celebrated at Golfängarna in Sundbyberg since 2005, and this year is no exception. To mark the day, an event area is being set up featuring a mix of local businesses, clubs, food vendors, and a large stage with entertainment. The programme includes everything from a funfair to stage performances and a ceremony to welcome new Swedish citizens. The event is organised by Sundbyberg City council.

In Fatbursparken on Södermalm, Burgerdudes and Bågen Bar are hosting a burger event for all burger lovers on National Day. On site are Funky Chicken, whose hamburgers have been named the best in Sweden, Pom Friterie and the Gothenburg-based Rollin Bistros.
