Lively Engelen has been a meeting place for food, drink and music since 1969, and there's no sign of that changing. The restaurant serves classic à la carte in the form of meat, fish, salads, burgers and other seasonal dishes. At SQ Bar & Restaurant, beautifully located on the quayside in Nacka, they've put together a special menu for larger groups, featuring classic European dishes in both small and large sizes. The historically listed venue was once an old mill building and it provides plenty of space for larger parties to enjoy food and drinks without feeling crowded.

Follow in the illustrious footsteps of well-known Swedes such as such as King Gustav VI Adolf, Karl Gerhard and Zarah Leander by eating and drinking at Såstaholm manor in Täby kyrkby. It was once a retirement home for film stars, but nowadays it's a popular and peaceful hotel with a restaurant. The restaurant serves seasonal produce in several “scenes”, as a nod to the manor's film connections.

There's plenty of space in Jacqueline's stylishly decorated premises for large groups to meet up and eat and drink well. A total of 145 people can take a seat in the pink and green surroundings. They serve lunch, dinner and brunch with Mediterranean flavours. 

At Nya Carnegiebryggeriet in Hammarby sjöstad, a whole gang can meet to eat comfort food inspired by Europe and America, drink exciting beer from the brewery and socialise in a relaxed setting. In the summer, the restaurant expands with a delightful al fresco area overlooking the water.

The former library in Medborgarhuset has been transformed into a real pleasure palace with three levels of restaurant, bars, live stage and events. Come together to eat, drink cocktails and party in the magnificent surroundings with beautifully preserved 1930s architecture.

This archipelago restaurant is part of the failsafe Bockholmen group of restaurants (Nybrogatan 38, Nytorget 6, among others) and is located in an old wooden house by the water not far out of the city. There's a large veranda and an inviting dining room with classic tile ovens and an open kitchen. If you want to sit separately, there's a larger private dining room and an orangery. For larger groups, a three-course set menu can be pre-ordered, and in December you can come here for their julbord, said to have the most generous seating times in town.

Chef duo Adam Dahlberg and Albin Wessman have been running their celebrated restaurant Adam/Albin for some time, but at Solen (which means “the sun” in Swedish) flavours from sun-drenched spots such as Tel Aviv, Santa Fe, Oaxaca and Naples take centre stage.

Sweet, sour, and savoury - Karamell hits all the right notes with its Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Much of the inspiration comes from Southern Europe, with a sunny menu, refreshing drinks, and large, lush plants both outdoors and indoors. Whether it's lunch, dinner, after work, or cocktails, Karamell welcomes guests to its restaurant on the Skeppsbron quayside.

Take an Asian detour and drop by Warung in Hornstull. Their Indonesian cuisine includes delicious cocktails and dishes, hot, spicy and sweet. If you're a group of friends, colleagues or family you can book their chambre séparée, where you sit at one or two tables, depending on how many you are. Warung welcomes all kinds of gatherings and they're happy to help arrange birthday parties and other events. Choose between tasting menus and a selection of small dishes.

Take your gang along to this classic rock 'n' roll restaurant in Vasastan. Hard Rock serves steaks, sandwiches, salads and their signature hamburgers to the tones of music. The Eighties-nostalgia restaurant also puts on live music a couple of times a week, on Fridays and Saturdays. 

Sometimes you just want to sit in completely undisturbed and give each other your undivided attention. That's entirely possible at K-märkt in Hagastaden, which organises private dining in their stylish premises. Choose from their set packages or let K-märkt tailormake your dinner: there are three rooms here that provide almost endless possibilities, from light cocktail parties to seated all-evening experiences. All the rooms have their own entrance, bar and toilet and one of them can host a chef's table, where you can watch the skilled chefs create your dinner in front of you.

Haga Bottega, sister restaurant to Vassa Eggen and Tennstopet, among others, opened in 2017 and serves up a modern Italian concept where friends and family can meet over food and drink. Larger parties can choose from a special menu with sharing plates - just like in Italy.

Whether you're a large group of friends or a gang from the office, there's plenty of space at Golfbaren's two branches in Vasastan and Sundbyberg. Drop by for a relaxed dinner followed by a round of mini golf. The menu includes a selection of salads and flatbread pizzas.
