The most traditional celebrations in the city
Celebrate midsummer at Skansen over three days. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy masses of different activities for visitors young and old. Dance around the maypole, make a wreath, enjoy folk music, dancing and storytelling or just enjoy the leafy surroundings. The market is open and food and drink can be bought at several spots around the park.

Midsummer with a view
Mosebacketerrassen has always been a popular option for anyone wanting to stay in town to celebrate midsummer. This year, young and old alike can dance and sing to Små grodorna (The little frogs) and other classic midsummer songs. There will also be face painting, balloon animals and other fun games and activities. Stay all evening and watch the sunset before you go home.

Celebrate in the long grass
In leafy Vintervikens trädgård just outside the city centre, you can enjoy traditional midsummer celebrations with dancing around the maypole and midsummer food in the café. Midsummer idyll
It would be hard to find a more idyllic place to celebrate midsummer than at Herrängens Gård. Take part in traditional celebrations on the bandstand, with raising of the maypole and dancing round the pole. Rönninge by in Täby, a show farm and rural community centre, organises a traditional midsummer celebration complete with wreath making, dancing around the maypole, barn dancing, musical entertainment, dance performances, and games for children. Glittering Midsummer Day party
This may not be a very traditional Midsummer celebration, but it still includes important elements like a cheerful summer atmosphere, games, music and food. The party takes place on Midsummer's Day and Miss Petersson, Miss Starshine and DJ Leo B will be running the show, promising a day of “full rulle kanelbulle” with a quiz walk, hula-hoop bonanza, limbo, high-heel race – and lovely prizes for the winners. First come, first served, but there's plenty of room here.

Idyllic celebrations
If you want to celebrate midsummer in the archipelago, there are plenty of options.
You can take a bus or boat to Lägret in Vaxholm, where you can enjoy midsummer food, ring dances and an overnight stay.
In Sandhamn, the midsummer festivities kick off at Adolfs torg at 3 pm with traditional games and dancing for both adults and children.
On the island of Grinda there will be a traditional celebration with a maypole, troubadours and dinner at Grinda Wärdshus. From 8pm-2am there will be a party with DJ Leo B with friends serving up “fun hits, singalongs and skylarking.”
On the dance floor on Möja island there will be a pentathlon, hamburgers, folk music and a disco.

Torekällberget open-air museum in Södertälje celebrates midsummer with folk dancing, games and other fun activities for the whole family. The maypole will be raised at 3pm, followed by dancing around it.

With a view over the city
Rooftop bar Pelago wants to create a celebration that feels like home for everyone staying in town. Expect live music with Isak Hedtjärn and Gustav Ejstes, a maypole right in the middle of the terrace, and midsummer flavours you can wash down with a schnapps or another tasty drink. They'll be serving a three-course menu in Pergolan with herring, grilled dishes and soft-serve ice cream. Midsummer cruise
For the thirtieth year in a row, M/S Vindhem will be setting out on a midsummer cruise.
