There are numerous Hirschenkellers around town and the name is synonymous with a laid-back pub setting and unpretentious atmosphere, but the bars are perhaps best known for their extremely good-value food and drink. A classic Södermalm hangout with an unpretentious atmosphere and punters of all ages. Relax and forget all about being trendy.  

Dovas has long been famous for their modest beer prices, which draw in a mixed crowd and masses of regulars. Dovas used to have branches all over Stockholm, but now only their Hornsgatan bar remains.

Saloon-inspired budget bar on Sveavägen with slightly loftier ambitions. You can combine a cheap glass of wine or a beer with, for example, a grilled hamburger or a few snacks. The bar menu is broad with, unsurprisingly, a strong focus on beer. 

Eat and drink cheaply while you hang out and listen to live music. The premises near Medborgarplatsen are spread out over two small and intimate floors and during the summer months the outdoor area is the place to be.

A convivial atmosphere and unusually low food and drink prices - Lion Bar is quite simply THE place for anyone looking for an unpretentious budget night out. Order a cold beer or a cocktail and eat fish and chips, hamburgers and other similar dishes. The beer selection includes everything from major breweries to microbreweries.

Harvest Home is a popular regulars spot for many. Cosy in its simplicity and homely atmosphere, guests are welcome to come by for a cold beer, a glass of wine or to eat some snacks or a full dinner. The premises are relatively small so it's a good idea to book in advance.

Good-value beer, simple food, great music and nice vibes are the order of the day at The Laughing Duck. Until 3am every day, 365 days a year. People of all ages hang out here over something to eat and drink, to watch a match or just relax after work. The volume increases as the evening progresses, ending up in a party atmosphere in the wee hours. 

Östermalm may not exactly be known for its cheap bars, but Bongo is something of an exception that proves the rule. Here, beer and bubbly don't cost the earth, and on Friday evenings the prices drop even further. In other words, it's a popular spot for both after-work drinks and weekend celebrations. 

A great spot for a post-work drink if you want to sample some limited edition craft beers or just have a cheap beer. Pub Kloster on Hornsgatan has more than 100 kinds of beer to choose from. You'll also find reasonably priced wine if that's what you fancy.

Over the years, Teodoras has managed to gather quite a few regulars who come here to crack a beer with good friends, eat classic pub food and maybe throw a few darts. During the summer months, the place's outdoor seating area attracts social gatherings. The selection of beers is as generous as the opening hours, and you can satisfy your hunger and thirst without breaking the bank.

As its name suggests, Honey Honey celebrates the music of ABBA. Drink a cold beer, selected wines and classic cocktails, or eat lunch and dinner. The menu includes hearty dishes such as fish and chips, meatballa and burgers. Come and stay for the evening or just drop by for a quick beer.

Party vibes and shots take centre stage at Shotluckan, and not just any old shots. They offer numerous exciting and entertaining drinks, served with a flourish by the bartender, who may well provide a fire show or take on the role of an eccentric scientist when mixing and serving drinks. As well as shots, they serve a selection of beers, ciders, and wines for those who prefer them. The menu provides a good overview of the price ranges of the shots, making it easy to control how expensive the evening will be.

Level 22 doesn't hold back on happy hour – happy hour here is celebrated from when they open to closing time, with friendly prices for both food and drinks. Whether you're having dinner or just grabbing a drink (or three), you won't need to worry too much about the bill. The place is large and spacious, so there's plenty of room to gather your whole group of friends.
