This homely wine bar and bistro on Kungsholmstorg is a gem of a watering hole for oenophiles - and for dogs. Drop in for a glass of excellent wine, along with a perfectly paired bite to eat, perhaps after a walk around Kungsholmen.

It's no secret that the Bockholmen restaurant group likes dogs, and at their Hornsgatan restaurant, four-legged friends are not only welcome, they also have their very own menu of treats. Meanwhile, you can enjoy a delicious Mediterranean-inspired meal, or just sip a glass of wine and soak up the homely atmosphere.

DoMa, run by Dorotea Malmegård and Viktor Lejonett, is housed in a former printworks on Nybrogatan. Downstairs in the bar you can listen to DJs, drink cocktails, eat dinner or round off your evening with a digestif and something sweet. The dining room serves an à la carte menu consisting of snacks, smaller and larger dishes and desserts. Dogs are welcome in the front part of the restaurant and the bar area. 

The whole family is welcome at this lively Spanish restaurant, including any four-legged members. Authentic Spanish food is served here in the form of tapas, grilled and paella, as well as a wide range of Spanish wine, sangria and spirits. The aim is to offer the same passion for food and life found in the sunny backstreets of Madrid and Barcelona.

The historic restaurant Grodan is proud of its excellent service and, in addition to a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, they offer French bistro dishes and classic Swedish homecooking. Dogs are welcome in the bar and the chilled lounge area with armchairs, but not in the restaurant itself. The outdoor seating area is open all year round, and dogs are of course allowed here too.

This cosy neighbourhood restaurant on Hötorget welcomes all kinds of guests – even those with four paws. They serve an extensive à la carte menu and a daily lunch special with European culinary influences, and at weekends a luxurious brunch menu is the order of the day. The restaurant has a sociable living- room feel that's ideal for a relaxed post-work drink at the bar or a long, leisurely dinner.

Bar Libertin is a popular neighbourhood restaurant and its reputation has started to spread, drawing in guests from all over Stockholm and beyond. This food and wine bar on Vapengatan serves food that revolves around nature and the seasons. The drinks list also focuses on craftsmanship and small-scale production. Dogs are welcome here, despite the dining room being on the small side. Book a table or drop by for a spontaneous glass of wine and something to eat. 

This somewhat hidden-away neighbourhood pub is a wonderfully relaxed, buzzy place to have a drink. Locals flock here to enjoy their favourite beer and classic pub grub, including pork cheeks and chops with almond potato mash, truffles and cider jus are signature dishes. Canine companions are also welcome in the cosy rooms.

Animo on Kungstensgatan is run by two chefs who have both been part of the Swedish national culinary team, Daniel Hayes and Anders Karlsson. The neighbourhood restaurant is modern and serves a concise yet creative à la carte menu. Dogs are welcome, but please mention your furry friend when booking.  

The Bockholmen restaurant group's Italian restaurant serves food and drink from all over Italy high up above Hötorget. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and dogs are welcome in both the dining room and the bar. There's also a rooftop terrace next to the dining room called La Terrazza.

Sebastian and Elvira who run Restaurang Oxenstiernan are passionate about sustainable cooking, local ingredients from carefully selected producers and a reverence and respect for nature . They serve a well-thought-out à la carte in beautifully designed surroundings where dogs are welcome, particularly outside on the al fresco dining area when the weather permits.

This neighbourhood restaurant on Karlaplan functions as an extra living room for the residents of Östermalm. Broms serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as brunch at the weekend. You can also drop by for a glass of wine with friends or colleagues. During the warmer months the delightful outdoor dining area, with its own bar, is open and ready to be filled with guests.  

As the friendly neighbourhood pub Paraden is, dogs are of course welcome. They can come into the ground-floor dining room and bar, but not upstairs. Do let them know in advance if you're bringing your four-legged friend. 

At several Pinchos restaurants you're very welcome to bring the whole family along, including your furry friend. The menu, which you'll find via their app system, includes tapas with flavours from all over the world and a generous dessert menu.

Dog owners can browse some 28 beers on tap at British pub The Churchill Arms in Vasastan. They also stock a wide selection of bottled beer, single malt whisky and cider, along with ambitious pub grub such as fish and chips and hamburgers. Meanwhile, their four-legged friends can order a tasty bone off the menu, so everyone's a winner!

Together with Carlsberg Sweden and Brooklyn Brewery, Nya Carnegiebryggeriet has created a brewery, bar and gastropub in the Luma area of Hammarby sjöstad. Come here for a dinner that revolves around the brewery's own-brewed beer and comfort food, learn more about beer, sit for a while on the delightful outdoor terrace with a view of the water or have a post-work drink with friends and colleagues.

Four-legged friends aren't just welcome at this colourful spot on Sveavägen, they're just as welcome as their human companions. Choose from small dishes, beer, wine and board games - Hop & Vine welcomes guests of all kinds all day long.  

The people who run luxurious lifestyle hotel Häringe Slott are well aware that dogs are a man's best friend. So it's only natural that they should be allowed to eat with their owners when they're staying at the castle - there's even a specially composed dog menu. On weekdays between 2-5pm it's 'Yappy Hour', with half price on dishes from the dog menu and special prices in the bar for two-legged guests.

Bistro Bananas on Skånegatan is famous for its wood-fired pizzas, but they serve other internationally-inspired dishes too. Come for a beer, delicious cocktail or good food in a large or small group, including your four-legged friend.

The gang at Sjätte Tunnan love dogs, and they have nothing against guests bringing their four-legged friends along with them to dinner. Here, in the Old Town, they serve a mixture of rustic Swedish homecooking and gourmet dishes from more southerly climes, in medieval surroundings. There's often entertainment and the bar serves everything from beer on tap to wine.

Take your four-legged friend along with you when you treat yourself to a decadent pastry at Fosch Artisan Pâtisserie, a stone's throw from Valhallavägen in Östermalm. They serve beautiful French cakes and pastries, healthy lunch dishes and breakfast including freshly-baked bread in peaceful surroundings perfect for working in.

Everything is made from scratch at the organic healthfood cafée Mahalo - this is the place to go for nutritious salads, wraps and acai bowls or a freshly-pressed juice. There are also rawfood cakes if you're craing something sweet. The perfect spot for anyone who feels like eating something fresh and healthy in the company of their dog.

This award-winning establishment in Saltsjöbaden has been around for almost a century. Its location, surrounded by nature and with views of the sea, makes Vår Gård a popular favourite for overnight conference guests and groups of friends and family alike. Come by for a delicious meal or a visit to Vincaféet, where your furry friends are welcome to join you.

Himmelska Hundar ('Heavenly dogs') is a completely canine-focused café where man's best friend takes centre stage. Dog-owners can choose something to eat for lunch or dinner while their dog gets its own, specially-composed menu. They even organise doggy parties with dog cakes.

À La Lo on Birger Jarlsgatan is run by a mother-daughter team and they've gathered together everything they like at this popular café - food, coffee, France and freshly-baked croissants, to name just a few examples. As an extra bonus everything they serve is 100% plant-based. Dogs are more than welcome here. 

Mellqvist is the go-to coffeeshop for countless coffee nerds. It's all about the coffee, but they also sell excellent sandwiches and delicious pastries. Take your doggy along with you and take a pew in the outdoor seating area or grab a takeaway coffee to take with you on your walk.

Swedish Midsommarköket has taken dog-friendliness to the next level, building a dog bar with tasty treats for dogs. The place is open in the summer months, serving simple but well-prepared dishes such as shrimp sandwich, salads, baked potatoes, herring, hot dogs, and wine and beer.

Get yourself down to your nearest Greasy Spoon if you can't get enough of breakfast and brunch - they're served all day long here. The menu is a delight for all the senses and you're guaranteed to find something delicious to eat. Dogs are more than welcome here, both indoors and out. So take your dog along with you next time you get that brunch craving. 

This well-known little café is a great place for a relaxed coffee with your dog in tow, and they have several branches around town. Il Caffè draws in its city-dwelling regulars with great espresso, grilled sandwiches and serious buns. Unpretentious atmosphere in a small space.

If you're planning a walk along Skeppsbron, stop off at this cosy bakery and café, where you can eat breakfast, lunch and coffee and cake with beautiful views. They bake their sourdough bread in a stone oven here and grind their own wholemeal flour. They use organic ingredients in their baking and their range includes everything from fruit and nut bread to cinnamon buns and sugar pretzels. Nice, well behaved dogs are welcome inside. 

You and your canine companion can make yourself right at home at Picchus Café, housed in a former apothecarist's residence in Upplands Väsby. Enjoy lunch or brunch or just have a coffee with or without a cake or pastry. They serve homemade and homebaked food in the form of salads, soups, simple main courses and pastries. In the summer months you can take a pew in the leafy garden and enjoy your food al fresco.

Mr Cake, run by well-known tv celebrity and pastry chef Roy Fares, is one of Stockholm's most famous cafés. The warm, welcoming surroundings combined with the USA-inspired cakes and pastries make a visit here a memorable experience. Dogs are welcome inside if it's not too full, and you can always take a seat outside with your furry friend. 

BrewDog Bar is without doubt the most dog-friendly bar in town. They're also very friendly to beer lovers and proudly serve some 18 different beers on tap and other craft beers. Four-legged pals can also enjoy a beer with their owner - BrewDog brew their own Buddy Dog Beer, which tastes of meat and, naturally, is alcohol-free.

This restaurant and wine bar, part of the NOFO boutique hotel, in the heart of Södermalm, also has a cosy, slightly hidden inner courtyard. In addition to carefully selected wines, local beers and cocktails you can also order tasty medium-sized dishes, made from organic and seasonal ingredients, if you get peckish. 

Café Nizza is a charming destination in Södermalm where you can come to drink great wines or eat a French-influenced dinner. The food menu is limited, while the wine menu is more extensive. An easy place to stay for a while, with or without a four-legged friend. 

You'll need to get to this popular wine bar in good time if you want to be sure of a seat, as only a few of the spots are bookable. The bar is small and cosy, and dogs are welcome to come along when their owners are in the mood for good wine, food and conversation. The idea is that guests should feel at home as they enjoy artisanal wine and food that follows the seasons.
