I think this kind of strulig food is best suited as food truck so it is fortunate that it is just that. The restaurant called Back A Yard is now called Jamrock. How it looks with ownership I do not know but Foodtrucken and the restaurant has the same website.
We are really on the lookout for another food truck but hunger is felt and it smells fantastic from the colourful truck with Jamaican flags set.
Two beautiful men stand in the truck with high reggae music and lots of hang arounds are standing around. It almost becomes like a street party with everyone who knows everyone and it is greeted to the right and left and food changes owners and people taste on each others. Lovely and it creates a good feeling.
We choose jerked Chicken and Fried chicken. Two white boxes with equal arrangement of rice with beans, cole slaw and then chicken in barbecue sauce.
The sauce is absolutely fantastic! Hot, dark, sweet and deep flavors. Good only to mix with the rice if the chicken is over.
I now understand in retrospect why everyone just ordered the jerked chicken, that's the one you should eat. Fried chicken is just fried chick and really not my thing and especially not when I already tried jerked chicken. There the flesh falls from the legs and there is plenty of fat.
Back a Yard does not take cards but only cash but one of their regulars said they always park near an ATM just because of this.
I am happy to eat here again if I find the truck, the app Streetkäk is a good tip if you like food on four wheels.
