Var på anrika Tennstopet på en snabb lunch idag. Lunchmenyn passade varken mig eller mitt sällskap i smaken så vi valde deras klassiska köttbullar från huvudmenyn, överkomligt pris! På namnkunniga Tennstopet har jag spisat både lunch, en- och tvårättersmiddag de senaste två, tre åren. Senast ett helkvällskalas i stort sällskap.

Inredningen är charmigt ålderdomlig och sekelskifteslik men mest så i salongerna mot gatan. Genom vindlande gångar och skrymslen når man mer alldagliga sittplatser som förvisso har den inte obetydliga fördelen att ljudnivån är bekvämare.

Jag beställer harsadel (som är en av de rätter som är på menyn blott någon dag om året) och upplyses härvidlag om att hare smakar mycket annorlunda. En rutinerad brasklapp. Portionen är rejäl och består, förutom hare med portvinsinlagda katrinplommon och skysås, av en potatistartlette och en lökpaj. Ett bastant mål mat som smakar gott, om än inte utöver haren så värst spännande. Smakerna är jämntjocka på ett lite avdankat husmanskostligt vis. Till detta ett glas spanskt rödvin, som servitören rekommenderat, med mycket fatkaraktär, som möter mastigheten väl.

Till dessert en ostbricka med knäcke och marmelad. Ostarna är fyra till antalet men ganska snålt tilltagna. Urvalet i och för sig bra med chèvre, morbier, en italiensk hårdost och en blåmögel. Uppläggningen på den för stora tallriken känns lite sjaskig. Helhetsintrycket är att man vilar lite för mycket i att själva konceptet ”ostbricka” självt gör hela susen. Fel! Ost kan, och bör, vara betydligt mer intressant än såhär. Till ostarna ett franskt, vitt dessertvin - likaså rekommenderat - som med sina generöst fruktiga toner och pikanta syra stjälper de matta ostabitarna mer än det hjälper.

Servisen är allert, men vi sitter i en avlägsen del där de sällan befinner sig. De har god koll på våra beställningar och rekommenderar överlag bra. Servicen i garderoben, som jag i och för sig inte kan svara för sköts av samma person alla kvällar i veckan, är dock upplevelsens, kanske alla upplevelsers, absoluta bottennapp. Maken till hetskt och misstroende bemötande har jag aldrig upplevt, och det är angeläget att man genast ser över detta om man tänkt fortsätta med det i sin tur tveksamma företaget att avkräva varenda gäst 20 kronor i garderobsavgift.

The food is in accordance with Swedish tradition and if you are craving Rydberg, Wallenberg, dill stewed potatoes, shoemaker's box or black pudding, this is the place to go for a nice price. The alcoholic menu offers everything from Sweden, France, USA, Spain, Italy, Austria and New Zealand, some easily accessible old goodies and some order goods that there is very little of in Sweden and at Systembolaget after closer research. 

As for the food, I did not want to be negatively obsequious as I have a bad habit of becoming when I eat Swedish home cooking. But when the white, round plate came in, I felt it tear inside and the old memories of the school canteen made themselves felt. I really dislike white round plates and am reminded every time of the cucumber-flavored potatoes that we were forced to eat - especially noticeable when it was potatoes that should be on my plate. 

But to my great surprise, I liked the meatballs. They had stuns, good frying surface, good onion-umami basis and married nicely with the actually very creamy sauce. No wow experience or direct taste explosion as it is difficult to make mashed potatoes and cream sauce taste and look different, but for those who shake up this food, like my dear home cooking mother, I can understand the feeling of sitting there and eating. As for the other dishes that my company took, I can not comment but it looked just as boring as boring home cooking can do. The flavors, on the other hand, resonated with everyone. The layout of my dish, I still want to give a plus in the edge because they served the meatballs and sauce separately from the mash and accessories that came in small sweet bowls on a silver tray.
