Galleri Steinsland Berliner is a contemporary art gallery that has been located in Södermalm, Stockholm since 2008. The gallery collaborates with artists on a long-term representative basis and is a dynamic destination for contemporary art, focusing on Swedish and international painting, as well as sculptures and photographs.

Famous art collector

Galerie Nordenhake has been around since the 70's and has amassed quite a reputation for itself. Since the 90's they also have a branch in Berlin. The gallery exhibits popular international and domestic artists and participates in all major art fairs.

GSA Gallery

International big shot

With 500 square metres at its disposal, next to a courtyard in Vasastan's gallery district, GSA Gallery (formerly Galleri Andersson/Sandström) exhibits an exciting assortment of contemporary international artists, both famous and unknown. Louise Bourgeois is just one of the many creatives to have showcased their work there.

Colourful in Lidingö

House of Näsmark is artist Catrine Näsmark's vibrant gallery in Lidingö where she works and lives. You can book private viewings, hold parties and corporate events, or attend painting courses. Catrine Näsmark dedicates much of her time to portrait painting and has painted portraits of the king and queen, among other works. She's also passionate about vintage motorbikes.

Andréhn-Schiptjenko

A contemporary art pioneer

Since the 1990s, founders Ciléne Andréhn and Marina Schiptjenko have enhanced Stockholm's art scene, introducing several major players. Famous artists have had their big break-through here, and the gallery's exhibitions attract a wide audience. There's also a sister gallery in Paris.

Galleri Magnus Karlsson

From Västerås to France

Galleri Magnus Karlsson was founded back in 1990, in Västerås. A few years later, they moved to Stockholm and started their gallery focusing on promoting new Swedish artists and establishing long-term relationships. Hellvi Kännungs on Gotland is Galleri Magnus Karlsson's summer project, an alternative exhibition space to their Stockholm gallery. 

ID:I Galleri

Run by artists

This gallery on Södermalm is run by the artists themselves and it reflects their individual visions. The members take turns exhibiting but they also invite guest artists and curators to show their work.

 

Cfhill

In a 17th-century palace

Cfhill is an art gallery located next to the Army Museum. They used to be in premises on Kungsträdgården and have since exhibited works by artists such as Hilma af Klint, Yayoi Kusama, and Andy Warhol.

Misschiefs

Art by women and non-binary individuals

Misschiefs started as an exhibition featuring works by 10 women and non-binary individuals selected for their groundbreaking art. Or as Misschiefs puts it: art that is "punk by nature". The gallery has continued exhibiting alternative art created by women and non-binary individuals.

Oak Island Gallery

Sociable rock 'n' roll gallery

Get your daily dose of rock 'n' roll at Oak Island Gallery, in the form of unique art. The gallery is run by siblings Jesper and Nella Hurtig, who created the gallery to provide Stockholm with a welcoming space dedicated to art, inspired by art galleries they'd visited in cities such as London, New York, Berlin and Santa Barbara. Oak Island isn't just a gallery, it's an inviting and creative space where you can meet around art and music.
