Konsthallen
A passion for food, love and art combine at Konsthallen. The building was built in 1880 and has been carefully renovated to regain its former glory. The historical building on Djurgården is now home to a restaurant, bakery and store where a passion for art is the common denominator.
The former Konsthall building has been brought back to life and welcomes guests in to enjoy good food, drinks and, of course, art. The restaurant kitchen follows the seasons, but with an emphasis on seafood and a curated wine list. The building's artistic heritage and history is referenced with playful paintings on the windows and art on the walls and in the window alcoves, and tiled floors, leather sofas and bistro chairs add to the feel.
The shop, decorated in Djurgården green with wooden tables and tiled floors and walls, serves breakfast or lunch. Grab a breakfast package to take with you or take a seat and tuck into the breakfast buffet. You can also buy buns and bread from the bakery, as well as organic groceries that are good for both your health and the planet.
As the name, which means art gallery, suggests, art occupies a very special place in Konsthallen's heart. They organise exhibitions and make space for culture, food and community, free from sermons and pretention. They call their exhibition format - in which artworks share space with the restaurant - "Current Forms". They show group exhibitions with contemporary artists, working in both hybrid artforms and pure painting, photography, sculpture and digital works.
You can also book Konsthallen's intimate chambre séparée for an evening filled with bubbles and seafood. Shellfish is served in Konsthallen's personal and pared-back way, with a special extra touch.
