Chefs John Forssell, Lars Brennwald and Max Westerlund Inazawa hold the reins at this Japanese izakaya on Upplandsgatan. They serve grilled skewers, small dishes and cold Asian drinks in buzzy, laid-back surroundings.

The owners got the name Miyakadori from a small izakaya in Japan where parts of Max's family come from. This is where Max learnt about yakitori and izakaya culture, and he's brought the knowledge and skills to this restaurant. The chef trio aim to give Stockholmers and tourists an authentic Japanese izakaya experience. The atmosphere is welcoming with friendly, relaxed service. At the weekends there's a buzzy atmosphere with music.

The emphasis is on various grilled skewers and small dishes which can be eaten as sides or separately. Skewers include meat, vegetarian and "catch of the day" fish alternatives. The drinks menu includes sake (rice wine), umeshu (plum liqueur) and other Asian spirits that form the basis of Japanese-inspired cocktails. There's also a more traditional wine list and Japanese beers.

The three chefs have a wealth of experience from some of Stockholm's top restaurants, including Frantzén, Adam/Albin and Portal. Efterlängtat besök och maten var otroligt god!
Litet rörigt innan vi fick klart för oss vad som rekommenderas, men allt landade in bra och vi njöt av all mat! Jag drack ett glas August Kesseler Kabinett, en litet söt Riesling som var perfekt till allt vi åt.

Then we were here again! As good as last. Hung on the lock one Sunday at 17:00, and lucky it was for full time it was. This time I tried the sesame salad which was incredible, also two different chicken skewers that were to die for. How can you have a bustling dining room with hustle and bustle and at the same time be able to talk to each other? Do you also want it to be affordable? Yes, but then this is probably the place for you.
If you don't like these things, I recommend you to go somewhere else.

Order the higtball drink with frozen grapes or pineapple. Pull me backwards. Don't even like fruity drinks, and both of these were thunderous. Ask the staff to guide you, but please also order this:
Duck liver mouse gojs with some insane butter-fried bread. The skewer with fish, hey? Even the skewer with pork.
Then you take corn dogen which is like a corn croquette on skewers with lots of sauce. The deep-fried chicken with dashimajo also went down.

So my tip is that skipping the desserts them is not worth it. The service was very good but they noticed that it was stressful and a lot to do but the mood was at its peak!

Maybe I'll come back if I've passed by, but then I'd go for bar hanging!

Superhärlig avslappnad och surrig atmosfär. Vi tog en omakase och fick en massa välgjorda smårätter som sällskapet fick dela på. Hit kommer jag gärna igen!
