If you find yourself in Stockholm around the time of the Swedish autumn school break (October 30 - November 3) you'll find a wide range of great activities on offer for kids. Halloween falls on this week, so there are plenty of spooky happenings and ghostly goings-on. The guide includes current museum exhibitions, workshops, autumnal film screenings and other fun activities. The list is based around the Swedish autumn school break for 2025 (week 44) but many of the tips also apply to the surrounding period, or even year round.

Packed programme
The autumn holiday will have a Halloween theme at Skansen, with pumpkins, scarecrows, spiders, and fluttering shadows. Hooting and bird calls can be heard in the twilight, and mysterious figures may appear between the houses. Seafood week
It's becoming a tradition for Kommendören to transform into a seafood shack, that is to say a type of American seafood restaurant, over the autumn half-term. Joy of Movement
During the autumn break, those aged 11–19 can train for free in Stockholm's gyms and try group fitness classes. The age limit for the gym is 15 years, but those aged 11–14 can use the gym during designated times with an instructor or with an adult paying the entrance fee. If you are from 11 years old, you can participate in group fitness classes, except for Bodypump where you must be 15. This offer is valid from 27 October to 2 November 2025, subject to availability, in all Stockholm city swimming halls.
Circus, dance and theatre
Circus Cirkör invites you to the autumn holiday course Fear, where children aged 10 to 14 can try out circus, dance and theatre with a horror theme alongside experienced instructors. Over the course of the week, participants will create a horror show which will then be performed for friends and family. The course is suitable for everyone, regardless of previous experience.
Crafting, table tennis, board games and a reading corner
Between 11am and 5pm every weekday during week 44, visitors can enjoy crafting, table tennis, board games, a cosy reading corner, and prizes to win from World of Toys. As well as all these activities, they offer various special activities daily.

Textile theme
Tensta art gallery is organising an autumn holiday camp with a Pompoms and Silk theme. The women's café will hold a workshop on pompom-making, with yarns, pompoms and balls in all colours, shapes and sizes. One of the days will include a trip to Almgren's Silk Weaving Museum, which tells the story of when Sweden produced silk for those who could afford it, and at the art hall there will be a "textile truck" where you can learn more about different textile techniques. The programme is free and open to all ages.

During the autumn break, Nordcirkus is coming to the Vasa Museum with the performance "The Books", where reading comes to life and becomes exciting through acrobatics and contemporary circus. Viva Mexico
The autumn break at the Ethnographic Museum is themed around Mexico and the Mexican holiday Dia de Muertos. As well as experiencing the exhibition Viva Mexico, children on autumn break can also make their own decorations: colourful skulls in papier-mâché, or cartoneria, as they're called in Mexico. Autumn half-term with the Vikings

Large experiment park
Tom Tits Experiment is Sweden's largest science centre, located in Södertälje.
