If you find yourself in Stockholm around the time of the Swedish autumn school break (October 30 - November 3) you'll find a wide range of great activities on offer for kids. Halloween falls on this week, so there are plenty of spooky happenings and ghostly goings-on. The guide includes current museum exhibitions, workshops, autumnal film screenings and other fun activities. The list is based around the Swedish autumn school break for 2024 (week 44) but many of the tips also apply to the surrounding period, or even year round.

Halloween all week
Gröna Lund is decorated with pumpkins and offers a host of seriously scary, as well as slightly spooky, experiences for all ages. Enjoy the cosy autumnal atmosphere or scare yourself silly in houses of horror with zombies, clowns and other terrifying beings. There's something for everyone here.

Step on the gas
Watch out on the track! At Järfälla Go-Kart, drivers of all ages can put the pedal to the metal and challenge friends and family on the track. They have both indoor and outdoor tracks, and both are open year-round. The outdoor track also includes a separate 200-metre junior track where younger drivers can let loose.

Seafood week

Culture for the whole family

Circus, dance and theatre
Circus Cirkör invites you to the autumn holiday course Fear, where children aged 10 to 14 can try out circus, dance and theatre with a horror theme alongside experienced instructors. Over the course of the week, participants will create a horror show which will then be performed for friends and family. The course is suitable for everyone, regardless of previous experience.

Ringen centrum
Crafting, table tennis, board games and a reading corner
Between 11am and 5pm every weekday during week 44, visitors can enjoy crafting, table tennis, board games, a cosy reading corner, and lots of creative building with Plus Plus from World of Toys. As well as all these activities, they offer various special activities daily.

Dance camp
Dance away the autumn break as the Ballet Academy invites you to a dance course for various age groups. Jazz, ballet and commercial are on the agenda, along with a musical camp for 7–9 year-olds in which they rehearse their own version of the musical Matilda. The autumn break courses conclude with a small performance that friends and family are invited to watch. The courses take place both at Ballet Academy in Östermalm and at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Skärholmen.

Climbing camp
Test your climbing skills and challenge yourself both physically and mentally at Klättercentret, which has various locations in Stockholm. A deep dive into southern European history
The Mediterranean Museum is open all week for exciting experiences. Autumn half-term with the Vikings

Masquerade holiday
The Royal Armoury at Stockholm Palace displays Swedish royal history with exquisite items such as costumes, armours, and weapons from the 17th century. Large experiment park
Tom Tits Experiment is Sweden's largest science centre, located in Södertälje. Over the autumn break, they open their large outdoor experiment park, allowing visitors to cycle on a tightrope above the treetops, swing several metres above the ground in the mechanical yo-yo, explore the energy forest, navigate the maze, and challenge their balance and precision on the large seesaw. For the youngest visitors, there are fun activities such as a magical bubble show. The experiment park also offers family-friendly challenges, grilled sausages and hot chocolate.

Just outside Uppsala, Funplay's huge activity centre has thousands of square metres dedicated to fun and games.
